Hattie Marie’s Texas Style BBQ & Cajun Kitchen is expanding its reach in Metro Atlanta.
The College Park-based smokehouse will open three new locations in the first quarter of 2020 in Duluth, Decatur and Stockbridge.
“With our concept, we’ve embraced our family’s tradition while paying homage to my mother, the late Hattie Marie,” co-owner Willie Griggie said in a prepared statement. “Hattie Marie’s BBQ intends to bring the flavor and essence of southeast Texas cooking all over Atlanta with this expansion.”
Hattie Marie’s menu is comprised of barbecue staples, with pork and beef ribs, pulled pork, brisket, chicken wings and sausage links coming from the smoker. Macaroni and cheese, French fries, collard greens, potato salad, baked beans and salad are available as sides. Fried catfish and fried shrimp make up the Cajun portion of the menu.
Hattie Marie’s is looking beyond the state of Georgia as well. Ownership is “offering franchise opportunities to qualified candidates throughout the United States” and partnering with North Carolina-based firm Franchise Genies on an aggressive expansion plan.
“We are seeking experienced single or multi-unit franchisees to acquire and develop locations in shopping areas, airports, colleges, and more,” co-owner Ramona Griggie said. “We bring strong financials and a culture that promotes community and great eating.”
Hattie Marie’s is named for Willie Griggie’s late mother, who operated a bakery and catering service called Pie Face Bakery in the late 1980s. Hattie Marie Griggie was a native of Port Arthur in southeast Texas, hence the restaurant’s style of barbecue on offer.
Wife-and-husband team Ramona and Willie Griggie opened the College Park location in 2017.
